Shocking the Ladies of Cranford
I would hereby like to thank the Maione family for kindly giving us handpicked oranges from their trip to Florida. We had a wonderful time eating them...rather, sucking them. We had a contest to see who could suck the most juice out of their orange. Congratulations to Hope Robson for sucking her orange the flattest! (Sorry, Miss Mattie.) And, sorry to say, we did not "retire to our rooms to consume our fruit in solitude", we slurped away in the presence of company! (Shocking!) Note: the Widow Willow did not join us in our escapade. She daintily sliced it open and ate them the boring way.

ReplyDeleteIt was the only way to eat them, I'm afraid. If you ate them like Mrs. Willow, you would be covered in juice! Sucking them is so much easier.
